BritBox International has acquired the second season of Irvine Welsh’s Crime from Cineflix Rights for its streaming service in the U.S., Canada, Australia, South Africa and the Nordics.

In season two, Dougray Scott (Mission Impossible 2, Twin Town, My Week with Marilyn) returns as troubled detective DI Ray Lennox. His portrayal of the character in season one earned him the International Emmy for best performance by an actor.

The new season sees Lennox return to Edinburgh Serious Crimes, ready to prove he is fully recovered from his breakdown only to find that everything has changed. The cast includes Ken Stott (Rebus, The Missing), Joanna Vanderham (Dancing on the Edge), John Simm (Grace, Doctor Who), Derek Riddell (Silent Witness), Gabriel Scott (House of the Dragon), Rebecca Root (The Queen’s Gambit) David Elliot (Kajaki), Laura Fraser (Breaking Bad, Pact), Fiona Bell (Shetland), Sarah McCardie (It’s A Sin), Brian McCardie (Murphy’s Law), John McLarnon (Outlander), Ewan Miller (Skin) and Gordon Morris (The Forgotten).

Additionally, BritBox North America has slated Wagatha: A Courtroom Drama—originally commissioned by the U.K.’s Channel 4 as Vardy v Rooney: A Courtroom Drama—for a December debut. The series dramatizes the court case between Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy, wives of high-profile British footballers. Rooney’s extensive Instagram sleuthing exposed Vardy and helped coin the term “Wagatha Christie.”
