Anar Ali, creator and executive producer of the police procedural Allegiance, has signed with Atlas Literary and Atlas Artists in the U.S.

Her series Allegiance is currently nominated for eight Canadian Screen Awards, including a writing nod for herself and for best dramatic series. It was also previously nominated for four Writers Guild of Canada screenwriting awards, with two nominations for Ali.

Ali left a successful career in the corporate world to pursue her dream of becoming a writer, having served as a business development executive at Procter & Gamble before attending the Canadian Film Centre. She began her TV career in 2016 when she won a development deal with CBC’s Diverse Creators Program and shortly after became a writer on NBCUniversal and CTV’s medical drama Transplant.

In addition to her work for the screen, several written works of Ali’s have also been finalists for numerous awards. Her first book, Baby Khaki’s Wings, was a finalist for the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize. Her debut novel, Night of Power, was published by Penguin Random House.

“Anar is a unique artist with a powerful, transformative voice who has launched a hit in her native country,” said Alex Hertzberg, CEO of Atlas Literary. “We look forward to helping her expand her audience to the global stage.”
