A+E Studios Taps Netflix Alum for Current Programming

A+E Studios has appointed Netflix alum Chris Sanagustin as head of current programming.

In her new role, Sanagustin will oversee a range of scripted projects for the studio, including The Lincoln Lawyer and the untitled Lars Kepler project. Sanagustin joins from Pine Tree Entertainment, where she served as president alongside producing partner Bill Prady, co-creator of The Big Bang Theory.

At Pine Tree, she developed and sold a diverse slate of projects to Apple TV, CBS, Hulu, NBC/Peacock, Netflix and TBS.

Prior to that, she was head of Brazilian original content at Netflix, leading the development, production and launch of the streamer’s expanding slate of scripted series for its largest market outside of the U.S. During her tenure, Netflix doubled its Brazilian originals output and delivered Cidade Invisível, Sintonia and the International Emmy-winning comedy Ninguém Tá Olhando (Nobody’s Looking).

Before joining Netflix, Sanagustin served as executive VP of current programming at Universal Television. She oversaw a slate that included Bates Motel, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Good Girls, Will & Grace, Superstore, The Good Place, The Mindy Project, Master of None and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

“Chris is an exceptional creative leader whom I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating when I was on the network side, so this is a full circle moment to have her join us now at the studio,” said Tana Jamieson, co-head and executive VP of creative affairs at A+E Studios. “Her track record, global experience and instinct for championing bold storytellers makes her a tremendous addition to our team.”
