Production Begins on The Malevolent Bride

Production has begun on the A+E Studios and Ananey Studios supernatural thriller The Malevolent Bride, commissioned to air on Israel’s pubcaster KAN 11.

The series follows the hunt for a vengeful spirit terrorizing an unsuspecting Hasidic community in present-day Jerusalem. A Hasidic psychologist and agnostic physicist join forces to explore the Hasidic occult and find the spirit’s origins.

Tom Avni (Valley of Tears, State Rules, Past Life) and Lioz Levy (Her Dance, Magpie) star in the lead roles, alongside Maya Wertheimer (Shababnikim, Morobot), Hisham Suliman (Fauda, The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem) Dar Zuzovsky (The Greenhouse, Hostages, The Baker and the Beauty), Esti Zakheim (The Commune, Bonjour Monsieur Shlomi), Shai Avivi (Pillars of Smoke, One Week and a Day, Black Space), Lir Katz (Shababnikim, Dismissed), Adi Gilat (The Arbitrator, Consolation), Elisha Banai (Fullmoon, Apples from the Desert), among others.

The Malevolent Bride is created, written and executive produced by Noah Stollman, Avigail Ben-Dor Niv and Oded Davidoff. Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson serve as executive producers for A+E Studios. For Ananey Studios, Orly-Atlas Katz and Osnat Saraga executive produce. Davidoff directs.

The project is the first collaboration between U.S.-based A+E Studios and Israel-based Ananey Studios. It is slated to launch in Israel in 2022.
