Canadian SVOD shomi Scores Warner Bros. Content

TORONTO: shomi, the Canadian subscription video streaming service launched by Rogers Communications and Shaw Communications, has secured a pact with Warner Bros. International Distribution for new and library series as well as feature films.

The agreement includes the dramas One Tree Hill, Southland, Revolution, Veronica Mars and The West Wing. Animated shows that are part of the deal include Baby Looney Tunes, Batman: The Animated Series, the original and new episodes of Scooby-Doo, X-Men: Evolution and Tom and Jerry Tales.

Films are included in the wide-ranging deal as well. Among the titles headed to shomi are Blade RunnerTwo Weeks Notice, Ocean’s Eleven, The Goonies, Unforgiven, Waiting for Guffman, the Lethal Weapon series, Mad Max movies, and the Batman and Superman series. There's also a collection of Stanley Kubrick classics, including 2001: A Space OdysseyA Clockwork OrangeEyes Wide Shut and The Shining.

“When we announced shomi in August, we made a commitment to deliver the best selection of television series and movies to Canadians,” said Marni Shulman, the head of content and programming at shomi. “This deal with Warner Bros International Television delivers on that promise. And we’re just getting started.”
