The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and Telefilm Canada, with CBC/Radio-Canada, are hosting a group of Canadians who lead some of the country’s major production companies during a session this week in Cannes.

The panel, titled Showbizz Success in Today’s World, will be moderated by Catherine Tait, president and CEO of CBC/Radio-Canada. It will see Marie-Claude Beauchamp, president and producer at Carpediem Film & TV; Tassie Cameron, executive producer and co-founder of Cameron Pictures; and Christina Jennings, chairman and CEO at Shaftesbury, discuss how exceptional Canadian companies have positioned themselves within the international community by developing highly innovative business models.

Showbizz Success in Today’s World will take place on October 16 in the Palais.

Valerie Creighton, president and CEO of the CMF, said: “Together, the three accomplished producers on this panel, as well as moderator Catherine Tait, have decades of experience and are role models for any Canadian looking to build a global business in the screen-based sector. They also happen to be women. Their businesses have reached global success thanks to their creative approaches, both on content and the development of innovative business models. As well-regarded industry leaders, they also contribute to our collective work to improve gender balance in the global audiovisual industry.”

“Today, our industry truly stands out with demonstrated self-confidence in creating and producing high-quality, world-class content,” added Christa Dickenson, executive director of Telefilm Canada. “The selected panelists, as well as moderator Catherine Tait, exemplify the remarkable road Canadian creators have traveled. By sharing their vision and experience, these renowned professionals will reveal how their entrepreneurship was key in their trajectory to achieve international recognition.”
