The AP & Metan Form Partnership for Chinese Market

LONDON: The Associated Press and Metan Development Group are collaborating to provide entertainment programming for Mandarin-speaking audiences.

Metan is to produce short- and long-form AP entertainment content in Mandarin for multiple platforms. Metan will develop original programming using AP content. Metan will also handle the distribution of the content throughout mainland China. Programming for the coming year will include AP’s coverage of New York Fashion Week, which will be adapted with Mandarin-speaking presenters for audiences in China.

Larry Namer, the president and CEO of Metan, said: “We are delighted to partner with the world’s most prestigious and widely respected news organization to develop localized content for Mandarin-speaking audiences. The collaboration marks the first time AP content will be distributed in China in a magazine show-style format. Together, we will deliver AP’s compelling entertainment news footage to Mandarin-speaking audiences in mainland China and around the globe.”

Michael Dutton, the AP’s global director of entertainment products, added: “AP is constantly looking for new global outlets for its content. Through this deal AP will be able to reach new markets with regionalized entertainment programming in Mandarin, specifically developed for the digital and broadcast customers within mainland China.”
