Starz has rolled out its international premium streaming service StarzPlay in Japan through Apple TV channels.

The service can be accessed in Japan on the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch, Mac, select Samsung and LG smart TVs, and Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices. This expansion comes one year after the initial launch of StarzPlay through Apple TV channels that included France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the U.K., Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia and Mexico.

Through Apple TV channels, StarzPlay gives customers access to a lineup that includes Starz original series day-and-date with the U.S. Also available is curated content such as the award-winning series Ramy and The Act starring Patricia Arquette and Joey King, and a movie library that features thousands of titles. Customers in Japan can sign up now for a seven-day free trial and subscribe directly to StarzPlay on the Apple TV app for ¥600 per month.

Superna Kalle, Starz executive VP of international digital networks, said: “StarzPlay continues to gain popularity with viewers around the world. We look forward to delivering a curated experience for the first time in Japan through the Apple TV channels on the Apple TV app where we feel our exclusive premium series and library of blockbuster films will resonate with viewers.”
