Star India Names New CEO of Star Sports

Sanjay Gupta, the managing director of Star India, has unveiled the appointment of eBay alum Gautam Thakar as CEO of Star Sports.

Thakar’s new position is effective this month. He will be responsible for leading the sports broadcast business.

Thakar began his career as a brand manager for P&G in India, then led baazee.com as a founding management team member. He spent a decade serving in various leadership roles at eBay before working for LivingSocial.

Gupta remarked: “We are happy to welcome Gautam into the Star India family to lead our next paradigm in sports broadcasting. He brings to the table a wealth of knowledge and proven strategic capabilities.
