Sohu Plans Chinese Version of Saturday Night Live

BEIJING: A Chinese version of the long-running sketch show Saturday Night Live is in the works, thanks to the online video platform Sohu.

The deal was secured between Broadway Video Entertainment, which was founded by SNL creator Lorne Michaels, and Sohu. The Chinese video provider is also home to the U.S. version of the series, which recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. The new iteration will feature Chinese comedians in the same sketch format as the original SNL.
