NEW YORK: Cheah Chee Kong (CheeK) has become Scripps Networks Interactive's new head of content, creative and marketing for the Asia Pacific, effective November 1.

In his new post, CheeK will be charged with developing and executing programming strategies and original productions. He will also be expected to handle creative and marketing duties for Scripps' channels in the region, which include Asian Food Channel, Travel Channel and Food Network. He will work out of Singapore under Derek Chang, the company's managing director for the Asia Pacific.

CheeK has worked in the media industry for nearly two decades. He previously served as the executive VP of creative for The Group Entertainment, for which he was a founding member. Earlier in his career he held senior management roles at STAR TV and MTV Asia.

"CheeK's appointment is part of the plan to build a deep and experienced management team as Scripps executes its growth plan in Asia," said Chang. "His extensive knowledge of the region gives him a keen understanding of local tastes which will be instrumental as he leads our overall programming strategy and oversees the development of our local productions."

"I have always admired Scripps' brands and am thrilled to be part of such a terrific platform and growth opportunity," added CheeK.
