SYDNEY: Australia’s Seven Network has tapped Richard Henson, a former Discovery Networks International exec, as the new head of content sales.

In his newly created position, Henson will oversee the sales and distribution arrangements for the network’s content rights catalogue. He will report to Therese Hegarty, the director of content distribution. He joins Seven from Discovery Networks International, where he serves as APAC regional director of program sales and consumer products. Before that, Henson served in various sales, strategy and communications roles for companies including Nickelodeon, MCN, OMD and Universal McCann.

Hegarty stated: “I am delighted that we have secured someone of Richard’s caliber to join our team. As both our content catalogue and the aligned revenue streams grow we need the right people in place to maximize opportunities—and we are hugely excited that Richard is coming on board to do just that.”

Henson said: “I am thrilled to be joining the team at Seven. The quality of Seven content is world-class and the opportunity to contribute to distribution strategy and revenue growth was too good to pass up.”
