Netflix Brings Mobile-Only Plan to Malaysia

Netflix has launched a mobile-only plan in Malaysia priced at RM17 ($4) a month, following the introduction of the lower-priced option in India.

The mobile service delivers SD content on one smartphone or tablet at a time. The other pricing tiers are basic (RM33), standard (RM42) and premium (RM51).

“Our members in Malaysia love to watch shows on their smartphones and tablets,” said Ajay Arora, the director of product innovation at Netflix. “With the first-ever mobile plan in Southeast Asia, all of Netflix’s shows and movies will be even more accessible for Malaysians to stream and download.”

About 88 percent of Malaysians own a smartphone, and 78 percent of internet users stream and download entertainment.
