Netflix Boosts Anime Lineup

Netflix is expanding its anime lineup through partnerships with four leading studios in Japan and South Korea.

The streaming giant has inked deals with NAZ, Science SARU and MAPPA from Japan, and Studio Mir in Korea, to explore new stories and formats for anime fans, providing support at every stage of production.

Netflix already has non-exclusive production line partnerships with several other Japanese studios, among them Production I.G, Studio Bones, Anima, Sublimation and David Production.

“In just four years, we’ve built a dedicated team based in Tokyo that serves to entertain the
global anime community through new and aspirational storytelling,” said Taiki Sakurai, anime chief producer at Netflix. “With these additional partnerships with industry trailblazers who do amazing work, often marrying the latest technologies and traditional hand-drawn animation, we’re excited to bring fans a greater variety of even more amazing stories.”
