KUALA LUMPUR: The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia has secured carriage for Disney XD on Malaysian operator Astro’s basic platform, with the channel to be available in English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin and Tamil.

Delivered in SD and HD beginning September 15, the 24-hour network for kids 6 to 14 will feature originals from the U.S. feed, including Ultimate Spiderman, Kickin’ It and Motor City. It joins Disney Channel and Disney Junior on Astro.

"Malaysia marks our first Disney XD launch in Southeast Asia, and first HD Disney network in the region," said Robert Gilby, the managing director of The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia. "With Astro’s support we’ve created a made-for-Malaysia network packed full of action, adventure and comedy, with stories and characters that will capture the aspirations and dreams of millions of viewers across the country."

“We are pleased to make Disney XD available in both SD and HD to all Astro customers,” added Henry Tan, the COO of Astro. “The launch of Disney XD with dedicated programming and multi-language options, specifically for Malaysian audience is another demonstration of our strong collaboration with Disney."
