BroadCast WorldWide (BCWW) 2021, hosted by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), is being held online from September 6 to 10.

Under the tagline “Content, Traveling to a New World,” this year’s event marks the 21st anniversary of BCWW. It will be held virtually, similar to last year.

The event will provide a variety of insights, as well as business opportunities with relevant industry insiders home and abroad so that they can better respond to the era of digital transformation.

BCWW 2021 will include the BCWW Online Market, where participants can take part in virtual business meetings and access online exhibitions with a look at content provided by local and global broadcasters. The BCWW Conference identifies trends and provides an outlook on the global broadcast content industry. The B2B program comprises pitches, showcases, live talks and the New Media Content Award ceremony.

Some 393 industry insiders from 32 countries have already pre-registered, including global buyers, as well as 146 broadcast content companies from 15 countries participating as exhibitors.

Alongside Korea, France, the U.K., Spain, Japan and the Netherlands are participating in BCWW format pitches and showcases this year.

The BCWW Conference will run online from September 7. It is set to kick off with the keynote session of TVING, Contents Wavve and Watcha under the theme of “The Current Landscape of Korean OTTs and their Vision for the Future.” Rob Wade, president of alternative entertainment and specials at FOX Entertainment; Craig Plestis, president of Smart Dog Media; and Ken Jeong, an actor and president of DK Ent., will join live from the U.S to talk about “The Appeal of K-Contents and their Future in the Evolving Landscape of Industry.”

On September 8, Clément Schwebig, managing director of WarnerMedia for India, Southeast Asia and Korea, will deliver a keynote address with the theme “The Future and Strategies of the Content Industry.”

Further highlights include sharing the success stories of Mister Trot, Taste of Wife and Love (ft. Marriage & Divorce). Director Moyoung Jin’s will share his experiences while creating the Netflix original documentary My Love: Six Stories of True Love.

On August 31, Warm Up Session Before BCWW 1 & 2, regarding business practices for content import and export, will be streamed on the BCWW website and KOCCA’s YouTube channel. “Buying Habits & Trends in Korea (what the Korean buyer says about content that wins their hearts)” will see speakers from CJ ENM, Content Wavve Corp. and Tcast Co. “Buying Habits & Trends For Must-Buy K-Contents (what the global buyer says about popular K-content and its charm)” will feature speakers from iQiyi China, Viu Hong Kong and U-NEXT Japan.

“K-Dramas and Hallyu (K-wave) content are leading the global media market in times of living with Covid-19,” said Kyung-mi Jung, acting president of KOCCA. “I hope that this year’s BCWW can be an opportunity to accelerate the global expansion of K-content, as well as add vitality to the global media market.”
