iflix has set a December 18 debut for Magic Hour: The Series, its first original series in Indonesia.

Produced by Screenplay Films, Magic Hour: The Series is a sequel to the 2015 Indonesian box-office hit of the same name. The eight-episode drama brings together director Asep Kusdinar and writer Titi Sari once again.

The iflix video streaming platform is now available to more than 1 billion consumers across 24 territories throughout Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

Matthew Collier, iflix’s Indonesia country manager, commented: “We are proud to present our very first iflix original series in Indonesia, co-produced with Screenplay Films as the beginning of our multiyear collaboration. Magic Hour: The Series, a drama about loyalty and unexpected love, is a testament to our commitment to provide the best of Indonesian content to our members across Indonesia. Fans of local content can expect many more of our original series to come on our service in the upcoming months.”

Mark Francis, iflix’s global director for original programming, said: “As our first original drama title, Magic Hour: The Series is both familiar and iconic, yet offers loads of surprises. It’s a super-sized sequel to the original hit movie, with many of the scenes set in New York—delivering a compelling cinematic experience in an eight-part series format. Our stellar cast, Michelle [Ziudith] and Dimas [Anggara], as well as our producers, Screenplay Films, did a tremendous job. This is the first of many iflix original series and I can’t wait for subscribers across Indonesia to press play!”

Wicky V. Olindo, Screenplay Films’ COO and founder, added: “We are very pleased to enter our extensive journey with iflix as part of the first original series in Indonesia. Beginning with Magic Hour: The Series, a spin-off of our very first box-office feature-length film, Screenplay Films is eager to continuously provide the utmost indulging content for Indonesia.”
