CJ E&M’s tvN Lines Up Latest Version of Flowers Franchise

SEOUL: Later this summer, the CJ E&M entertainment channel tvN is slated to begin airing Friends Over Flowers, a new variety show that follows on the success of Grandpas Over Flowers and Sisters Over Flowers.

Friends Over Flowers will watch as one group of middle-aged Korean musicians travel to Peru, while another group of young actors from tvN's hit drama Reply 1994 heads to Laos. Shin Hyo-jung, who previously worked on variety shows for KBS and SBS, has joined the production cast. The program is scheduled to premiere next month.

"CJ E&M is recognized for creating new trends in Korean TV programming, for example its unique approach to variety show formats," said Na Young-suk, producer and creator of the Flowers series. "It is not about simply changing characters and locations, but for each new season, we evolve show formats by making changes to the themes and concepts.
