LONDON: BBC Worldwide has secured two program-sales agreements in Thailand for content from the natural history and factual genres.

Thai Public Broadcasting Service (Thai PBS) picked up the natural history titles David Attenborough's Natural Curiosities (seasons one and two), Hidden Kingdoms and Tarsier Tails. Also part of the deal were entertainment and preschool titles, among them Robbie Williams: One Night at the Palladium and The Numtums.

STG Mediaplex, a third-party aggregator, took on a package of natural history and factual titles. The agreement included Human Planet, Expedition Tiger and two seasons of Top Gear Korea.

“The deals in Thailand mark a milestone for BBC Worldwide as we continue to forge our footprint across Asia,” said Mark Whitehead, the senior VP and general manager for Southeast Asia and channels lead for Asia at BBC Worldwide, Asia. “Thailand has always been a key market for BBC Worldwide, and we are very excited to be able to expand our presence here with the country’s public broadcasting service, Thai PBS, and STG Mediaplex.”

“BBC Worldwide have been great partners of Thai PBS and we are happy to extend our relationship with them,” commented Suwit Sasanapichit, the director of the program bureau at the Thai Public Broadcasting Service. “Being the primary free-to-air TV broadcaster, we have the duty to air programs with quality content and BBC Worldwide is able to provide quality programs that meet our mission.”

“Viewers in Thailand understand and appreciate quality content. With BBC's reputation for producing top quality and award-winning natural history and factual genres, we believe that the newly acquired programs will be very well received in Thailand,” added Joe Suteestarpon, the managing director of STG Mediaplex.
