App for the Malaysian Creative Industry Launched at MIPCOM

CANNES: Malaysia's National Film Development Corporation (FINAS) and the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia (KKMM) have created Kr8tif Express, a digital app that provides the latest information on the country's feature films, TV, animation, games, music, licensing, publishing and more, as well as industry insights.

The app was revealed during MIPCOM at the Creative Malaysia networking reception at the Malaysian Pavilion. One of the functions of the Kr8tif Express app is to track the growth of the Malaysian creative industry, allowing the country to stay competitive on a global scale and keeping stakeholders up to date on Malaysia’s achievements. The app will also update readers daily on Malaysian creative news, new grants, deals and co-production agreements.

Alongside the news section, the app will feature around-the-clock coverage during international and local creative festivals and events, native integration for social-media sharing, exclusive interviews and a dedicated industry vacancy section to help recent graduates and local talents find a job in the local and international creative companies.

Kr8tif Express is free to download on the Apple App Store and Android Google Play.

Dato’ Kamil Othman, the director general of FINAS, said, "FINAS has a mandate in the creative industries to enhance, develop and strengthen the levels of professionalism and skills among industry players especially in various aspects to be more competitive in the global market. Therefore, Kr8tif Express is created as a solution for international content collaboration and promotion apart from various initiatives and incentives to accelerate the industry growth."

Dato’ Jailani Johari, Malaysia's deputy minister of communications and multimedia, said, “It is vital for us to go digital and develop a robust, fast and easily accessible news to everyone, even more so in a global arena where information is available with the click of a button. Thus, we are proud to introduce the first Malaysia’s Creative Industry digital app that allows us to stay competitive and keep our stakeholders stay abreast on industry news and achievements daily.”
