ABU Elects NHK’s Hikaru Doumoto as VP, KBS’s Cho Dae Hyun as President

MACAU: The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) has elected Hikaru Doumoto, the executive VP of NHK, as its new VP and Cho Dae Hyun, the president and CEO of Korea's KBS, as president.

The ABU consists of more than 260 member broadcasters across 64 countries. Doumoto will be serving as VP until the end of December 2017. Other new VP representatives include Ahmad Jailani, the deputy director general of RTM, and Jawhar Sircar, the CEO of Prasar Bharati. Javad Mottaghi has been tapped as secretary general.

Doumoto commented: “I wish to fulfill my duty as vice president, supporting the president, implementing the range of proposals discussed at this meeting so that our broadcasts and services will contribute to the advancement of society.”
