40-Plus Malaysian Companies Headed to MIPTV

KUALA LUMPUR/CANNES: The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) is leading a delegation of more than 40 Malaysian companies to MIPTV this year, showcasing a wide variety of television and film content and services.

The Malaysian pavilion is organized by FINAS in association with Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission (SKMM), Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and Creative Content Association of Malaysia (CCAM).

Under the tag line of Empowering Content for the World, the Malaysian delegation is part of the Southeast Asian nation’s broader efforts to boost the contribution of the film and television sectors to GDP.

Participants at the Malaysian pavilion include broadcasters such as TV Alhijrah, LiTV Asia, ASTRO, Sistem Televisyen Malaysia, Natseven TV and Ch-9 Media, plus a range of producers and distributors, among them Backbone Entertainment, Global Creative and Media Agency, Inspidea, Peppermint Productions, Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios, Primeworks Studios, Vision Animation, Juita Viden and Worldwide Rights Corporation.

YM Raja Rozaimie Raja Dalnish Shah, director general of FINAS, noted, “The Malaysian film and television content industry is expanding within the Malaysian economy as we now can witness an increase of development of world-class intellectual properties (IPs), accomplishment of international co-productions deals and acquirement of contents and distribution agreements worldwide.”
