The new Star TV series Kuzgun, two Filipino dramas from GMA Network and Showtime’s Desus & Mero late-night show are among the February premieres that generated the most interest in social media, according to The WIT.
The Social Wit List, compiled by The WIT, tracks Facebook and Twitter discussion around brand-new series. The February edition is topped by Star TV’s Kuzgun, a Turkish drama that had fans raving about #AmazingSoundtrack and #AwesomeCast, with about 38,000 mentions.
GMA Network’s new fantasy telenovela Kara Mia is in second place with about 29,000 mentions about the #RemarkableSpecialEffects, #GreatPerformanceByTheMainActresses and #FilipinoFolkloreOnScreen.
Next on the list is Rai1’s one-off TV movie Io sono Mia, about the Italian singer Mia Martini, with some 23,000 comments focused on giving #KudosToTheLeadingActress delivering an #EmotionalTribute with #LotsOfGoodSongs.
The Brazilian version of Armoza Formats’ The Four had about 22,000 mentions for its premiere on Record TV. Viewers were enthused by the #BeautifulSet, #HostXuxa and the #TalentedContestants, but expressed some frustration with the #LackOfBrazilianSongs and their #MixedFeelingsAboutTheJury.
Another format adaptation comes in in fifth place, Peruvian Latina TV’s El valor de la verdad, based on The Moment of Truth. Opinions were mixed, with some finding it to be a #AVeryAppreciatedRevival and were #IntriguedByTheFirstGuest, while others felt it was a #BoringInterview and #SeemedStaged.
GMA has a second entry on the top ten with the musical telenovela Inagaw na Bituin, praising the #GreatCast, #InterestingStory and #ExcitingEpisode.
With about 17,000 mentions, BET’s American Soul makes the seventh place. The drama about Soul Train creator Don Cornelius was praised for its #AmazingActingAndCast and for being an #AccurateDepictionOfThe70s—fans were #Hooked.
Another Turkish drama makes the list: TRT’s Tek Yürek, about a hockey coach, as viewers responded to the #ExcellentCast, #OutstandingProductionValues and #InterestingPlot.
La 1’s new entertainment variety show La mejor canción jamás cantada generated about 13,000 comments, with buzz around the #ChoiceofGuests and #SuperbCovers, leading audiences to be excited for the following week’s episode.
Rounding out the top ten is Showtime’s Desus & Mero, as some audiences noted that they #SubscribedToShowtimeForThis.
