The Night Manager, The Crown Score TV Wins at Golden Globes

LOS ANGELES: The Night Manager took home the most awards in the TV arena at last night’s Golden Globes, while Netflix’s The Crown scored the statue for best drama series.

The Night Manager won three awards: best actor in a miniseries or TV movie for Tom Hiddleston; best supporting actor in a series, limited series or TV film for Hugh Laurie; and best supporting actress in a limited series or TV movie for Olivia Colman. The Crown followed with two nods, with Claire Foy winning for best actress in a TV series (drama), in addition to the show’s overall best series win in the category.

The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story also landed two Globes, one for Sarah Paulson as best actress in a miniseries or TV movie and the other for best miniseries or TV movie. Best actor in a TV series (drama) went to Billy Bob Thornton for Goliath.

The FX comedy Atlanta scored two awards as well: Donald Glover won for best actor in a TV series (musical/comedy) and the show was named best TV series (comedy). Also in the TV comedy segment, Tracee Ellis Ross landed the award for best actress in a TV series (musical/comedy) for black-ish.

By network, FX led the pack with four wins, followed by AMC with three, Netflix with two, and ABC and Amazon each scored one.

As for motion pictures, La La Land was the big winner of the night, scoring a total of seven awards. This included performance nods for leads Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone and best film (comedy/musical). Moonlight won for best film (drama). Performance wins on the drama side went to Casey Affleck for Manchester by the Sea and Isabelle Huppert for Elle.
