SingTel Expands Movie Offerings on mio TV

SINGAPORE, November 5: SingTel has inked agreements for new
SVOD movie channels on its pay-TV platform mio TV from NBC Universal, Twentieth
Century Fox and Disney-ABC International Television and from the Bollywood
studio Eros International.

The launch of the four new services come on the heels of the
rollout of on-demand services Sony PIX and PIX THRILLER on mio TV. Each studio
will provide a selection of between 15 and 28 movies on-demand each month for a
fixed price of S$12.84 (including GST) except for Eros Bollywood, which costs
S$10.70 (including GST). Subscribers can choose to watch the movies whenever
they want and as many times as they want throughout the month.

NBC Universal’s on-demand service, PictureBox, will launch
on mio TV on November 16. This service—also available in the U.K. and
Poland—will offer 28 on-demand movies at any one time with titles that
include Johnny English, 2 Fast
2 Furious,
Blue Crush and 8 Mile. Seven titles will be refreshed weekly.

Twentieth Century Fox’s service will feature classic movies
like Home Alone, Edward Scissorhands, Poseidon Adventure, Romancing the Stone and Jewel of the Nile. Also available on video on demand from Fox in 2008
are upcoming movies like Apocalypto,
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, The Simpsons Movie and Live
Free or Die Hard
.

Disney’s subscription on-demand channel, The Film Factory,
is now available on mio TV and features blockbuster titles such as Armageddon, Air Force One, Pearl Harbor, Princess
Diaries
, Shanghai Knights and Signs.
This is the first time that Disney is offering such a service outside the U.S.
Individual Disney movies may also be purchased from mio TV’s VOD store,
including Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Ratatouille and Wild Hogs.

Eros Bollywood will debut on mio TV on November 8. The
premiere of Eros Bollywood also marks the first on-demand Bollywood movie
channel in the history of Singaporean television. Viewers will be able to watch
movies as soon as three to four months after they are released in the cinemas,
with 15 movies available at any one time and eight new titles to be refreshed
each month. Titles offered include a mixture of the latest movies subtitled in
English, such as Salaam-E-Ishq, Cheeni
Kum
, Nishabd, Eklavya,
Namastey London and Partner, as well as classic Bollywood movies like Mother
India
, Devdas, Mughal-E-Azam and Sholay.
