TORONTO: The literacy-based series Super WHY!, produced by Out of the Blue Enterprises in conjunction with DECODE Entertainment, has been commissioned for a second season of 15 fresh episodes by PBS KIDS and Canada’s CBC.

The new commission brings the total number of available episodes to 80, each 22 minutes. The show also airs around the world on channels such as Nickelodeon UK and Australia and OKTO TV in Singapore, as well as on Korea’s EBS, KidsTalkTalk and Tooiverse, ATV in Hong Kong, Astro in Malaysia and Indonesia and Thailand’s True Visions. DECODE holds worldwide TV rights for Super WHY! outside of the U.S.

Janice Walker, the VP of animation production at DECODE Entertainment, said, “PBS KIDS and CBC are the most trusted channels among parents and families and ideal platforms for Super WHY!. The second-season commission underscores the widespread appeal of the popular—and highly-effective—literacy-powered series.”

Samantha Freeman, co-founder and CEO of Out of the Blue Enterprises and co-creator and executive producer of the show, added: “Kids seek fun and parents and broadcasters alike are always looking for strong preschool programming that balances entertainment with learning. Super WHY! covers both bases and has a proven track record on PBS KIDS in the U.S. and channels throughout the world.”
