SBS Australia Goes for Stories from Norway

Nordic World/DCI and Australia’s SBS have inked an agreement for both the finished and format versions of the Norwegian comedy duo Ylvis’s seven-part series Stories from Norway.

As seen through the eyes of the Ylvis brothers, the series shows viewers how the small, but rich, country of Norway sometimes struggles to cope with even the simplest things. Each episode brings the stories to life in the form of “investigative musicals.”

Espen S. Huseby, CEO of Nordic World, said: “Michael J Solomon and I are delighted to be able to announce the first international sale of the series Stories from Norway. The agreement covers both the sale of the original Norwegian show and also the format rights for Australia. Stories from Norway is produced by Norway’s most creative duo, the Ylvis brothers, that we are pleased and proud to be able to support in the international marketplace.”

Peter Andrews, head of network programming for television and online at SBS Australia, added: “We are thrilled to be partnering with DCI/Nordic World on this project. Stories from Norway is a unique blended format, with astonishingly creative storytelling, brilliantly executed with the amazing talent of the Ylvis brothers. I’m delighted that we are bringing both the original series and this new format to Australian audiences.”
