Peter Andrews Resigns from SBS

Peter Andrews has resigned from Australia’s SBS, where he has served as head of network programming for more than 12 years.

In a statement, he said, “It’s impossible to summarize what this chapter has meant to me, but I’m leaving with enormous pride in what we achieved. Over the past decade, I’ve had the privilege of helping shape SBS’s content identity across both broadcast and digital.”

Throughout his tenure at the company, he helped grow SBS On Demand; championed international series such as The Handmaid’s Tale, Fargo, Vikings, The Night Manager and more; backed originals, including commissioning Alone Australia; launched new channels such as SBS Food, SBS World Movies and SBS Viceland; and more.

“What I’m most proud of is the remarkable team I’ve had the privilege to lead—a group of talented, passionate, bold and collaborative people who care deeply about the power of storytelling and the audiences we serve,” Andrews said.

“SBS has been my professional home for a long time, and leaving is not easy,” he continued. “I’m taking a small amount of time to consider what comes next. I’m excited for new opportunities, new challenges and the chance to bring everything I’ve learned at SBS to my next chapter.”
