Rose d’Or Festival Competition Opens

LUCERNE: Submissions are now being accepted for entries to the Rose d’Or Festival’s 51st competition, which now features 13 categories for the Golden Rose awards.

The deadline for entries is December 31. Submissions span 13 categories, including the newly introduced telenovela and lifestyle areas. There’s also an increased emphasis on digital, as entries can now be submitted online and the pre-selection jury can perform their duties on the web as well. The international jury members will have access to review the programs and make their selections for the shortlist of nominees in February 2012 online. The Rose d’Or website provides an overview of the competition, including precise definitions of each category, an interview with a figure in the field and example clips.

Marco Castellaneta, the festival’s chairman, said: "The Rose d’Or Competition has traditionally focused on entertainment television. This tradition has been renewed and strengthened. The newly defined categories offer a clearer characterization of the genre, while recognizing the evolution of entertainment television."

Festival director Markus Helbling added: "As always, the Rose d’Or Festival seeks to welcome the best of entertainment television to Lucerne, and as such we are committed to providing the participants of our competition an ideal platform—a perfect blend of content and technology."
