Telepool Reports Strong MIPTV Sales

MUNICH: The sales closed by Telepool at MIPTV cover categories such as series, feature films, family entertainment, TV movies and documentaries.

The series Alarm for Cobra 11 sold to Hungary, with RTL Klub picking up season 15, as did Nova in the Czech Republic. Spain’s Cuatro also took season 15, along with a re-run package. In Croatia, RTL took seasons 9 through 15. The series also scored a pickup from Turkey’s Kanal D. The series Lasko is set to air in Thailand on SSNI, as well as on Rai Cinema in Italy in its second season. Doctor’s Diary‘s third season got picked up by Spain’s Cosmopolitan PAYTV. What Really Matters is set for France’s NRJ12.

The feature film Marcello, Marcello landed a deal with Italy’s Rai Cinema. The family entertainment title Grimm’s Finest Fairy Tales is headed to Estonia’s ERR and Japan’s NHK Enterprises. The TV movies Cream Kisse and House of Cards both got picked up by Italy’s Rai Cinema.

In the way of documentaries, Totally Phenomenal will be aired for the U.S. Spanish-speaking market by Galavision Television. Treasures of the World has 12 episodes heading to Ceska in the Czech Republic, in addition to a pickup from Malaysia’s PIK Film. The Child, the Death and the Truth will air in Taiwan via a deal with the Public Television Service Foundation. Heart of Jenin notched up a number of new broadcasters, including NHK in Japan, TVP in Poland and TV Espanola in Spain. Taste the Waste also scored multiple deals, with the doc heading to France TV, YLE in Finland, NRK in Norway, SVT in Sweden, Denmarks Radio, French-speaking Switzerland via RTS and Griechenland on ERT. Doc packages were sold in the U.S. (Kultur International), Poland (TVP) and Thailand (SSNI).

Irina Ignatiew, the executive VP of Telepool, said: “We’re very pleased with our success at MIPTV. Our brand-new action series MEK8 went over very well with our buyers. We had a lot of interest from the USA, France, Spain, Eastern Europe and Asia. Another hot item was [the] TV event movie Shades of Happiness, starring Maria Furtwängler. The Teamworx two-parter was a big hit in Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. Format rights were also in high demand this year.”
