Revenue Gains for NBC Universal

NEW YORK/FAIRFIELD, July 11: Second-quarter revenues at NBC
Universal rose 7 percent to $3.88 billion, parent company GE announced today,
delivering a profit of $909 million, reflecting a gain of 1 percent on the
previous year.

For the first half of the year, meanwhile, revenues were up
5 percent to $7.47 billion, with a profit of $1.62 billion.

Commenting on the results, Jeff Immelt, the chairman and CEO
of GE, hailed NBC Universal’s seventh straight quarter of segment profit
growth. He continued: “We have a successful slate of movies that will benefit
us in the second half of the year for which we have already incurred marketing
costs. The Olympics are on track to generate $1 billion in advertising revenue
and $700 million in GE industrial sales.”

GE’s total revenues for the period were up 11 percent to
$46.9 billion, but profit was down 6 percent to $5.07 billion.
