Red Arrow International to Launch Season Two of Cleverman at MIPTV

MUNICH: Set in the near future, Cleverman is back for a second season, which Red Arrow International will be launching for sales at MIPTV.

The genre drama, which stars Iain Glen (Game of Thrones) and Frances O’Connor (The Missing), proved to be a hit for ABC in Australia and SundanceTV in the U.S. A new 6×1-hour season has been produced by Goalpost Pictures and Pukeko Pictures.

The crime procedural Einstein, a Sat.1 original, has also been commissioned for a second season. The series focuses on a young professor named Felix, who is the great-grandson of Albert Einstein. Tom Beck (Alarm for Cobra 11) is in the lead role. Meanwhile, Ola Rapace (Skyfall, Section Zéro) stars in Farang, a new action-infused thriller. “We see continued demand for distinctive, character-driven fiction across an eclectic mix of genres, which is something that we have tried to reflect in our lineup for MIPTV,” says Henrik Pabst, the managing director of Red Arrow International.

The company is also touting a new slate of formats. In the social experiment Look Me in the Eye, estranged people are brought back together to share two minutes of silent eye contact, in a bid to help them reconcile their relationships. The dating format Kiss Bang Love, which comes from the team behind Married at First Sight, sees if singletons can kiss their way to love by testing the power of true chemistry in finding a partner. There’s also a spin-off show for the international hit Married at First Sight, with Married at First Sight: Second Chances.

“Our formats slate at MIPTV highlights our commitment to working with some of the world’s top creative talent across entertainment, reality and comedy to deliver stand-out formats to broadcasters and platforms,” says Pabst.

“Red Arrow International is home to a successful portfolio of innovative formats, all with the ability to travel widely,” notes Pabst.

Among the company’s non-scripted highlights, Empire Builders explores history’s great empires by visiting significant sites that defined their achievements and legacy, combining CGI and dramatic reconstructions with insights from history experts. The Greatest Crimes of All Time uses never-before-seen archive material and brand-new footage from actual crime scenes to spotlight grisly stories. Motive to Murder combines dramatic reconstructions, crime-scene evidence and expert analysis from FBI profilers, criminal attorneys and police investigators.

“Red Arrow International continues to expand its factual slate across all genres, building on the success of our social experiments and factual-entertainment shows such as Married at First Sight, and our work in factual specials and with big science entertainment brands such as Galileo,” says Pabst. “Our non-scripted slate at MIPTV highlights our commitment to working with some of the world’s top creative talents in factual.”
