Prank Patrol Renewed for Third Season on YTV in Canada

LOS ANGELES, March 30: Canadian
broadcaster YTV has renewed Apartment 11 Productions’ live-action kids reality
series Prank Patrol, distributed
by MarVista Entertainment, for a third season of 26 new half-hour episodes
premiering this fall.

In addition, the series
has also been licensed to Norwegian broadcaster TV2. The deal with TV2 follows
last year’s agreement with the BBC, who licensed the series as a format and
debuted 20 half-hours last September. MarVista is also responsible for
distributing the U.K. version of the Prank Patrol outside of Canada, the U.K. and Ireland and is
responsible for licensing format rights to other territories.

With the renewal by YTV,
the total number of episodes of Prank Patrol available at this year’s MIPTV will be 78
half-hours. Prank Patrol
originally debuted on YTV in Fall 2005, and was quickly renewed for a second
season. The third season of Prank Patrol was nominated in 2006 for a Gemini Award, a Banff World Television
Award and a Golden Sheaf Award. In Prank Patrol, lucky viewers get to create, build and execute a
big-time prank. Each week, in the customized "SpyVan,"
fun-loving host Andre (“Andy”)
Simoneau and his side-kick Ninjas take the prankster to the special effects
pros, where they will help the prankster put together and pull off the prank of
a lifetime.

Prank Patrol, available as completed episodes or in format
version, is one of three series distributed worldwide by MarVista Entertainment
from award-winning Montreal based producer Apartment 11 Productions. MarVista
is also the exclusive distributor for Apartment 11’s Mystery Hunters, currently in its third season at YTV; and Surprise!
It’s Edible! Incredible!,
on CBC. Surprise!
It’s Edible, Incredible!
is also
available as complete episodes or in format versions.

“We are delighted that
this original tween series has been renewed as we have had considerable
interest in the program from many overseas broadcasters,” commented Fernando
Szew, the MD and COO of MarVista Entertainment. “We are pleased that Prank
Patrol
has proven to be a popular
show at the U.K.’s BBC and that we can now extend the reach of the series into
Scandinavia.”
