Plans Unveiled for Asia Media Summit

HONG KONG, August 5:
Twenty media companies in the Asia Pacific are set to participate in the
upcoming Asia Media Summit, organized by Media Partners Asia (MPA), on
September 8, with speakers from STAR, Yahoo! and Discovery Networks, among
others.

The summit, which takes
place in Hong Kong, unites companies from diverse industries including TV,
online, print and out-of-home, with leaders evaluating the shifting market
dynamics in China, India, North Asia and ASEAN.

Confirmed speakers
include Paul Aiello,
the CEO of the STAR Group; Steve
Marcopoto
, the president of Turner Broadcasting Asia Pacific;
Ken Mandel, the managing director of Yahoo! Southeast Asia; Tom Keaveny,
the CEO and managing director of Discovery Networks Asia; and Ward Platt, the
executive VP and managing director for Asia at Fox and National Geographic
Channels.

The India delegation
will include NDTV Imagine’s CEO, Sameer Nair, and INX Media chief Indrani
Mukherjea, among others, while the lineup from China will feature the likes of
Phoenix TV’s CEO, Liu Chang, and Stanley Cheung, the managing director of The
Walt Disney Company for China. Those providing a look at developments in the
ASEAN market include Media Prima CEO Abdul Rahman Ahmad and MediaCorp CEO Lucas
Chow.

“Macro concerns may be
clouding visibility in Asia media but plenty of companies are investing for a
long-term future,” said Vivek Couto, the executive director of MPA. “The summit
is designed to explore how the media roadmap will unfold over the next few
years, who is positioned to benefit the most and which strategies will help
maximize success.”
