LONDON: Entertainment One (eOne) Family has secured a deal for Peppa Pig with Chellomedia’s Central European cartoon channel Minimax.

Minimax will launch Peppa Pig seasons one and two in December to be broadcast in the local languages of Hungarian, Romanian, Czech, Slovenian and Serbian, among others.
Peppa Pig already airs in Eastern Europe on TVP and MiniMini in Poland, Ceska Televize in the Czech Republic, RTV in Slovenia and Nova TV in Croatia.

The Peppa Pig licensing program is locally managed by Ink Brands and merchandise is already established in Poland and the Former Yugoslavia. Ink will work with eOne and Chellomedia to support the roll out of the licensing program into new countries in the region in 2012.

Katalin Radóczy, the chief programming officer of Chello Central Europe at Minimax, said, “We’re delighted to be working with eOne to extend the reach of Peppa Pig in the Central European market. We have a strong history of supporting new content and offering our viewers shows that educate whilst they entertain. Peppa is a great fit with our existing portfolio and we’re sure that the show will be a massive hit when it launches later this year.”

Joss Duffield, the head of international sales at Entertainment One Family, commented, “The Minimax deal completes the broadcast picture for Central Eastern Europe. Its commitment to broadcasting Peppa Pig in multiple languages will drive huge awareness for the show which we are certain will drive demand for further series.”

Andrew Carley, the head of international licensing at Entertainment One, added, “Central Eastern Europe is a key growth area for the Peppa Pig licensing program. Key categories including toy, publishing and apparel are currently in negotiation for the Minimax territories with the retail rollout set to commence next year.”
