Asia TV Forum today saw the launch of a S$30 million ($22.4 million) fund to support drama co-productions between Singaporean and international companies.

The S$30 million International Co-Production Fund is intended to support the creation of drama series with “distinct Singapore flavor,” with an additional S$25 million ($18.7 million) being made available for the Virtual Production Innovation Fund over the next three years.

News of the two funds came as Singapore’s Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information, Tan Kiat How, welcomed delegates at ATF’s official opening ceremony this morning.

“Singapore was the first Southeast Asian country to support co-productions and encourage regional collaboration,” Tan said at the opening ceremony. “Our media companies have been co-producing an increasing number of high-quality films and dramas with Singaporean flavor for a global audience. International partnerships have allowed our co-productions to find new audiences on the world stage.”

Tan added, “Leveraging international expertise, this made in Singapore content can find new audiences on platforms like Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, iQiyi and Viu. At the same time, we hope to bring more high quality content options to the region and beyond.”

The funding will be available to Singaporean companies with a track record in long-form content production. Proposals can be submitted to the IMDA between December 11, 2023 and January 31, 2024.
