NBCU Launches Female-Focused Content, Marketing Initiative

NEW YORK, May 7: Bravo
chief Lauren Zalaznick, today upped to a new role overseeing NBC Universal’s
women’s and lifestyle entertainment cable networks, has unveiled Women@NBCU,
which is being positioned as a combination of media assets reaching female
viewers across a range of platforms.

Zalaznick was today
promoted to president of NBC Universal Women’s and Lifestyle Entertainment
Networks, effective immediately, from her previous role as president of Bravo
Media and Oxygen Media. She will continue to lead these networks, as well as
the company’s “Green is Universal” initiative, and adds iVillage to her remit.

Women@NBCU, Zalaznick’s
first initiative in her new role, will be formally presented at the “Experience
Event” on May 12, where the breadth of NBCU assets will be showcased to the
advertising community. Women@NBCU is intended to provide advertisers targeting
female consumers with opportunities across the company’s stable of brands,
including the networks Bravo and Oxygen, the online destination iVillage and TV
shows like Today, The
Biggest Loser
and Lipstick
Jungle
.

"We have the
unparalleled ability to reach the customized psychographic female target
everywhere they are, at every hour of the day, every day," said Zalaznick.
"Anchored by four powerful brands—Bravo, Oxygen, Green and iVillage,
supplemented by the select ‘boutique’ properties across the NBC Universal
landscape—we've created a one-stop shop to deliver custom female 18-54
audiences with scale.”

Women@NBCU will provide
resources in the areas of content, research, sales and marketing in order to
assist marketers in developing integrated, targeted campaigns. "This
strategy is right in line with our entire enterprise sales approach, which focuses
on creating customized marketing solutions targeted to a very specific
demographic,” said Mike Pilot, the president of NBC Universal Ad Sales and
Marketing. “When you are talking about women in particular, NBCU has a
particularly desirable group of assets that can provide clients with a number
of innovative opportunities.”
