Fremantle Corp. Sells Snapped

TORONTO: The Fremantle Corporation has already firmed up a number of sales for the crime and investigation series Snapped ahead of MIPCOM, with deals in France, Sweden and Australia, among other territories.

Canal Plus’ Planete Justice in France picked up the show, as did A&E Television Networks’ Crime & Investigation channels in the U.K., Ireland and Channel Islands, Africa, Greece and Cyprus, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Benelux. TV4 in Sweden also went for Snapped. Foxtel’s Crime & Investigation channel in Australia and New Zealand and associated islands is set to air the series. Tel Ad’s She channel in Israel is as well, and further sales include ChelloZone’s Reality TV in the Middle Eastern territories, Eastern Europe and African feeds. In addition, The History Channel in the U.K. and Foxtel in Australia and New Zealand have signed on for the new seventh season.

The Fremantle Corporation’s distribution head, Irv Holender, commented: “Not only does Snapped command great ratings on Oxygen, but the show—which is on a woman’s channel—is actually attracting lots of men. Women want to know ‘why they killed their husbands?’ —and men want to know ‘how they did it!.’ Snapped is a must-have for today’s reality-hungry audiences. We are proud to be working with Oxygen, and delighted by the overwhelming broadcaster response to the series.”

The show has been expanded into an hour format, with an additional 38 new episodes to debut at MIPCOM.
