MTV Networks Takes NBCU Features

NEW YORK: MTV Networks has acquired a slate of 2010 theatrical features from NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution in a deal that sees Spike TV scoring the broadcast premiere rights to, among others, Robin Hood, Wolfman and Green Zone.

Spike TV’s broadcast rights for Wolfman and Green Zone begin June 1, 2012, while the premiere window for Robin Hood and MacGruber begins September 1, 2012.

Comedy Central, meanwhile, secured Get Him to the Greek, beginning September 1, 2012, while MTV nabbed Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, beginning November 1, 2012. Overall, Spike TV, Comedy Central, MTV and VH1 have acquired the rights to 57 films. The deal with NBCU also includes Scarface, A Bronx Tale, Cape Fear and the Jaws trilogy.

"This action-packed movie package, highlighted by the premieres Robin Hood, Wolfman and Green Zone, all feature the intensity and drama our guy-centric audience craves," said John Griffin, senior VP of programming and acquisitions at MTV Networks.
