MIPCOM came to a close in Cannes today with a reported attendance of 13,900 delegates, among them 4,800 buyers, Laurine Garaude, director of Reed MIDEM’s television division, said at a wrap press conference this morning.

MIPJunior had 1,600 participants, including 660 buyers, Garaude said, with highlights that included two World Premiere Screenings, Mattel’s Thomas & Friends: Big World! Big Adventures! and, from Russia, Heroes of Envell.

MIPCOM had 13,900 participants, with 4,800 buyers, from 110 countries. New countries were largely from the Middle East and Africa, Garaude said. There were 70 new exhibitors on site.

The key trend, she noted, is the “global race for stand-out content, leading companies to truly transcend barriers, borders and even their own roles. It’s an exciting time in the content business. People are looking to engage audiences around the world.”
