MediaCorp Notches Up Format Deals

SINGAPORE, September 29: The MediaCorp Studios’ format Project
SuperStar
, which was licensed into Malaysia
last year following its successful Singaporean rollout, has been acquired by
Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV).

HTV will apply the talent format to its annual singing
competition Ngoi Sao Tieng Hat Truyen Hinh,
which the broadcaster has been hosting for the last 15 years.

8TV, Malaysia’s Media Prima Berhad’s free-to-air channel,
picked up the license for Project SuperStar
last year and is set to launch a second season early next year. In addition,
8TV’s sister station NTV7 has licensed the format to Star Idol, a quest for acting talent. The show is expected to
launch in the middle of next year.

Other talent search formats created by MediaCorp Studios
include SuperHost, SuperBand and Dancefloor.
