Jon Plowman to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at BWTVF

TORONTO, February 13:
Producer Jon Plowman will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 29th
Banff World Television Festival (BWTVF), taking place at the Fairmont Banff
Springs Hotel in Alberta, Canada, June 8 to 11.

The Lifetime Achievement
Award recognizes outstanding and innovative contributions to the broadcasting
industry through the scope of an individual’s career. The award will be
presented to Plowman at the Canwest Banff World Television Awards on Monday,
June 9.

Plowman was most recently
the head of comedy for the BBC in London, responsible for titles including
Absolutely Fabulous, The Office, Little Britain, The Vicar of Dibley
and The League of Gentlemen. After 14 years with the company, Plowman is
stepping down to return to producing, and already has two new series
commissioned by BBC Two. He will continue to develop and executive produce
shows including Love Soup, Taking The Flak, To The Manor Born and the Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning Extras. Before heading to the BBC, Plowman began his
career in broadcasting at Granada.

"I have spent my
entire career in broadcasting in roles that I have been privileged to
hold," commented Plowman. "It is an honor to be recognized for a
fulfilling career by a festival that celebrates the best in our industry."

industry," said Jennifer Harkness, the executive director for BANFF.
"We cannot think of a more deserving recipient for this year's award, and
are thrilled to be able to bring Jon's wit and experience to our
delegates."
