Japan to be Honored at MIPTV

PARIS, December 20: Reed MIDEM has selected another Asian
market, Japan, to be the Country of Honor at MIPTV featuring MILIA, after
celebrating India at MIPCOM in October.

Japan Day is set for day one of MIPTV, which runs from April
7 to 11, 2008, in Cannes. The Japan focus will include conference sessions on
the Japanese animation and format export markets; digital media expert speakers
throughout the week and an opening cocktail party focusing on Japanese content.

Announcing the decision, Paul Johnson, the director of Reed
MIDEM’s television division, noted: “Japan has always played an important role
at our markets and more importantly is a key player in the global entertainment
industry, particularly in digital delivery. The Japanese have also been some of
our most loyal clients with their attendance at MIPTV dating back over 40
years."

According to a recent Juniper Research report, Japan will be
the second-largest market for mobile TV services, after the U.S., by 2012. The
country is also a leader in animation production and has been ramping up its
presence in the global formats market.
