ITV Orders More of The Cube

LONDON: ITV has re-commissioned the game-show format The Cube from Objective Productions for a second season, and ALL3MEDIA International will be launching the series at MIPCOM.

Objective Productions has also secured a commission with FOX in the U.S., according to ALL3MEDIA International. ALL3MEDIA is in advance negotiations in France and Australia and the Netherlands, and has already closed an option with Zodiak for Scandinavia, Finland and Poland.

The Cube watches contestants take on seemingly simple challenges under the spotlight in a large glass cube. The challenges range from tasks of agility to trials such as bouncing a ball into a bin or stopping a clock at 10 seconds, all filmed in front of a studio audience.

ITV’s controller of entertainment, John Kaye Cooper, said: "Viewer reaction to this compelling new game show has been tremendous, and we are delighted to commission a second series for 2010.”

Executive producer Andrew O’Connor from Objective Productions added: “We are absolutely delighted that The Cube has proved such a hit for ITV and is so popular with viewers. It’s a ground-breaking format and we’re very proud of it.”
