Dexter Shatters Record for Showtime

LOS ANGELES, November 21:
Sunday’s 9 p.m. airing of the serial-killer drama Dexter brought in 1.23 million viewers, making it the
most-watched episode ever for a Showtime series.

Viewership for the episode
grew 41 percent from the previous week, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show, which stars Michael C. Hall, was
broadcast again at 11 p.m., and the two airings combined brought in a total of
1.63 million viewers.

The previous record for
most-watched episode on Showtime was Soul Food, which drew in 1.21 million viewers in 2004.

Showtime’s sophomore drama
Brotherhood, which follows Dexter, also benefited from Dexter’s success, averaging 651,000 viewers at 10 p.m. and
another 110,000 viewers at midnight, a 47-percent boost from the previous week
and the largest audience ever for the series.
