Former DreamWorks Animation Exec Joins Rovio

ESPOO: Tuomo Korpinen, a former DreamWorks Animation executive, has joined Rovio Entertainment as the president of Rovio Animation and Blue Bird Distribution and global executive VP of the company's media business.

Rovio Animation and Blue Bird Distribution are charged with taking the Angry Birds brand into movies and other entertainment. As global executive VP of media business, Korpinen will have operational, commercial, marketing and development responsibility for all media-related activities and properties at the company. He is expected to create a long-term strategic plan to expand Rovio's presence in the media and entertainment space. He will work out of Los Angeles under CEO Pekka Rantala.

While at DreamWorks Animation, Korpinen oversaw international TV sales of the company's full-feature animation slate. Earlier in his career, he held several positions at The Walt Disney Company, most recently leading the business development team for the film studio business around the world. He also worked at such companies as Warner Music Group and EMI Music Group.
