WARSAW: SPI International has acquired worldwide rights for the 4K/Ultra HD (UHD) opera La Bohème from DBW Communication and will air the program on its first 4K/UHD channel, FunBox 4K UHD.

La Bohème, composed by Giacomo Puccini, was directed by Italian film director Ettore Scola during the 60th Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago, Italy. This edition of the opera, which was recorded in 4K/UHD, featured a cast comprised of Daniela Dessi in the role of Mimi, Fabio Armiliato as Rodolfo, Alessandro Luongo as Marcello and Alida Berti as Musetta.

"We are thrilled to present this stunning cinematic opera in the Ultra HD resolution on our FunBox 4K UHD channel," said Berk Uziyel, the executive director of FilmBox International. "La Bohème, shot entirely in native 4K, is exactly what will make watching our channel an unforgettable experience for the premium viewer who appreciates quality programs. We are also glad to have acquired Andrea Palladio, the Architect of Beauty, another 4K production from the DBW portfolio, which perfectly fits the profile of our new channel."

"I am very happy that SPI international has acquired the rights for La Bohème for their new 4K (UHD) channel which will be the first commercial 4K channel on Eutelsat Hot Bird satellite receivable in Europe, the Mediterranean basin and the Middle East," added Giuliano Berretta, the president of DBW Communication. "DBW has put a great effort to make this co-production with RAI COM—an example of combination of art and technique. I am also proud of the acquisition of the 4K production Andrea Palladio, the Architect of Beauty, where the 4K techniques are combined with the utilization of drones with a 4K Sony F55 camera embarked on a DBW drone to produce a unique 4K production based on an idea of Cristina Marques."
