Darren Throop, the president and CEO of Entertainment One (eOne), articulated how the company has evolved to meet the demands of the shifting media business in his APOS keynote today.

Referencing the company as a “home for creative talent,” Throop noted, “We have gone through structural changes, and we’ll continue to do that. We need to pivot when the market starts to shift as we see new technology, new platforms, new forms of consumer behavior.”

Of note, a restructure at the company brought together film and television under one unit. “We are platform agnostic,” Throop said.

He also said that owning global rights is a key priority at the company.

On M&A opportunities, Throop commented, “We have ten deals on our desks at all times. We’re careful with our ambitions. When you bring companies together and people together, there needs to be some sort of cultural consistency among the group.”

International production is a key growth area, with the company looking at ways to expand in Asia.
