Electus Gears Up for MIPCOM with JonBenét Ramsey Event Series

LOS ANGELES: Electus International is heading to MIPCOM with a lineup of original and third-party titles, including an event series that explores the infamous JonBenét Ramsey murder.

The six-hour limited event The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey reexamines the unsolved murder of the titular 6-year-old beauty queen, 20 years after her tragic death. The series was produced for CBS.

Electus International also has new highlights from U.S. broadcaster ABC to offer. This includes The Toybox, which features expert toy makers as they compete for an opportunity to present their inventions to Mattel. “Toybox speaks to the dreamer in all of us, to those of us who have thought up great ideas and inventions, and sees contestants try to fulfill their dreams,” says John Pollak, the president of global distribution and Electus Studios at Electus International. In addition, two new specials featuring David Blaine will mark the last of the performer’s career. “These are U.S. network titles that will have an incredible amount of buzz and hype around them, and we’re confident that the success they achieve in the U.S. will translate to markets all over the globe,” adds Pollak.

Running Wild with Bear Grylls, meanwhile, has had three successful seasons on NBC in the U.S., and Electus International is licensing the formats rights for the show. “Running Wild takes viewers out of their element and puts us alongside A-list celebrities as they attempt to break out of their comfort zone and experience a true outdoor adventure,” says Pollak.

The company is also presenting the format Saving Christmas (The CW) and seasons one and two of Home Free, hosted by Mike Holmes and former NFL player Tim Tebow. There is also Bellator, Adam Ruins Everything, Fameless, Separation Anxiety, Dating Naked, World’s Funniest Videos and Almost Genius.

“Our new lineup represents our strong commitment to bringing standout programming with a global appeal to the market,” says Pollak. “With five new U.S. network series as well as a dozen returning cable series, we are excited to bring a diverse slate of titles to MIPCOM this year.”

He adds: “With each of these series, we’re not only bringing emotion to the screen but also incredibly high production values. Continuing to expand our format business in Latin America and CEEMEA is key to our continued growth.”
