VANCOUVER: Force Four Entertainment and DRG have entered into a first-look agreement that covers the Canadian outfit’s upcoming original factual slate.

Force Four reality series The Cupcake Girls has been sold into more than 90 countries. The feature doc 65_RedRoses has also been awarded. At MIPCOM, DRG will premiere Force Four’s Urban Suburban, currently airing on HGTV in Canada. The two companies are also looking for opportunities to develop factual and scripted programming together for the international marketplace.

“We are very excited to be one of the select few production companies around the world—and the only Canadian company—with which DRG has chosen to have a first-look deal,” said Force Four’s president, Rob Bromley. “They are a proven international distributor with strong global presence, resources and experience. This is great news for Force Four, and for our broadcast and production partners.”

Diane Rankin, the senior VP of acquisitions at DRG, added, “Force Four is a dynamic team of extremely talented people, creating shows and formats which we believe to have huge worldwide potential. They have an exceptional reputation for delivering both high-quality commercial factual and drama programs, as well as critically acclaimed, award-winning documentaries. We’re very excited to be working with them and for the opportunities that we can create together."
